Summary:

International researchers and scientists from Cambridge University have recently discovered the earliest known ancestor of humans and other species known as the, “Saccorhytus”. The preserved fossil creature of over 540 million years, was covered in a thin layer of flexible skin and muscle, and said to move around by wriggling along its home between the sand grains on the seabed. Researchers say this creature was an example of a category of animal called, “Deuterostomes“, which is a common ancestor with many similar characteristics, such as a symmetrical body, inherited from many species, backboned vertebrae, and eventually humans. The most striking feature of the creature was the large mouth, which probably ate other creatures or particles in the area, although there was no evidence to prove it.

Analysis:

The author uses a lot of direct quotes from the researchers and scientist emphasizing the important details to know about the fossil found. Along with the valuable information, the author included a photo of the possible size and image reconstruction made by the university, and a microscopic image of the details on the fossil founded by a scientist from, Northwest University, in China. Ghosh wrote a lot of suggestions, made by scientists, he found interesting enough to capture the audience’s attention on the Important matter.

Opinion:

I personally picked this article simply because it was an interesting topic in the scientific environment. I think more people should read upon these articles because it’s not often scientist are lucky to find important discoveries that can trace back to our history or evolvement. I agree that this was huge discovery because it gives me an insight on a theory scientist made that connects to our evolution. It may be ideas that not many people agree on, but it is something we can enjoy and maybe further research on.
